The dark and light pieces, as well as the pawns, all set up on deferent boards (levels). The
white pieces set up on The first and second boards, wth maor peces on the frst row of the
frst board and the pawns on the frst row of the second board. The black pieces set up on The
seventh and eighth board, wth the maor peces on the egth row of the egth board and the
pawns on the egth row of the seventh board.
This arrangement is design to take advantage of The vertical nature of The game, unlike
standard chess where The threat comes from The front; The danger of attack n 3D chess
comes from above and below. The pawns are placed so as protect the  major pieces from a
preemptive attack.

Whte moves frst and then the blac. The peces developed out across ther respectve boards,
developng off of ther orgonal squares. Though the peces can move n any drecton one chooses, t
s advce to stay on the startng boards untl all the peces are developed. frurthermore, t s
advsed that the pawns shadow the maor peces untl the mddle game, ths ensures that no maor
peces are lost early n the game.

As in standard chess control of The center will ensure an easy win, though, capturing The
king is still The major goal. Mae a plan and stick to t! take The center! An chew up your
opponent. Promote your pawns. Very little has change about The middle game. The watch word
s - Nutrton! And remember, Pawn promotion occurs only on the first row of The first level
(Blac Pawns) and the eight row of the eighth board (Whte Pawns), so eep that in mind, and plan
well.
tower sege game plays ust le ust, but now you have the opton of movng up and down. thn of t
as a tower, or buldng wth eght floors and you and a frnd are playng "tag" and the home base
you want to reach s at the very top and the other home base your frnd  wants on the frst
floor, he wants to reach t before you do, and before beng taged.
    The game
The tower siege game is very similar to standard chess, yet there are some dissimilar
elements, like the setup. The game plays on eght boards, staed n a vertcal array smulatng a
tower.  As n standard chess the whte peces moves frst and then the blac peces.
The tower siege game is a variant of 3d chess; The game presupposes 3D chess as a
tower siege between two armed forces: a terrorist group bent on destroying a downtown
office tower, themselves and The innocent people within; and The Commandos tasked at
stopping them.
An armed group of terrorist have stormed a downtown office tower and with brutal force
they have taken hostages and secured the first and second floor of the office tower. The
terrorist have issued a threat to destroy the building, themselves and everyone within if
their demands are not met.
With little to no time to prepare a group of anti terrorist Commandos are mobilized into
action. Unable to approach the building by helicopter the Commandos are force to embark on a
daring and dangerous roof to insertion: an high altitude air drop onto the roof of the office
tower.
    Check mate!

Easier said than done?
ts easer, smplwer, and -- oh yes; more complex!
How do you mate The King (n 3D)? Remember, the ngg s only a pece, and peces must abde
by the rules of the game. The king sn't invincible, nor s t empervous. The king must adhere to
The same rules that govern all.
and The one thing I notice about a great many (3D) chess games, than tend to forget about
The rules governing The king; especially The one about moving into and through threats. With
that in mind I made sure to reinforce this rule in The tower siege game, by whey The king
cannot move onto any level, board, tier, or square if doing so leads The king in to check on The
very next move; weather it is detected or not.
Consider The king is on level four and is chess, he moves to level five to avoid check; there is
a queen on level five, but not in direct line of site to check him. The opponent moves another.
The game continues. The kings’ move is legal! Why? Because The Queen could have -- and
should have checked The king, it’s as if a terrorist running into a room with a commando, and
dashes through before The commando could fire? Not likely. This is no different than
discovering The king was on a square and in check and The check was not called. The king
cannot be allowed to move from level to level without impunity. Move over, The king would be
invincible, you call check and The King would simply move on; laughing. No!
The game would never be won, nor it would be for, that is why we have rules; and sense The
rules say The King its self cannot be captured off The board like a common piece; then The
King cannot run in and out of check neither. The best way for The earlier example to be
handled is that The King must always have an escort, a game piece to be sacrifice at a moment’
s notice. If The king is checked on four then he should interpose a piece – and escort; and
prepared to be checked by The queen, which is preparing to mate The king by cutting off his
escape route. The king can still move to five, but an escort must precede The king, to give him
a shield to hide behind.
These are my idea and my concepts for 3D chess for use with The tower siege game…
While The terrorist are conducting a floor by floor search the Commandos are able to stealthly secured the top
two floors of The office tower, and start to wor there way down through the buldng floor by floor.
Eventually both forces encounter one another and major battle ensues. The terrorist leader is captured, The weapon
of mass destruction is secured and unarmed; and all of The hostages are freed.
